Winter Tax Collection

Please read your tax bill, both front and back, for instructions regarding mailing in payments.

• You must enclose a stamped self-addressed envelope if you wish to have a receipt.
• You are encouraged to pay by mail, however allow at least 7 business days for the payment to reach the treasurer.  Postmarks are not accepted as date of payment.
• If your check has not cleared your bank within 10 business days, please call the treasurer.
• Hours for tax collection at 4282 S. Smith Crossing Road are as follows:
  • Friday, December 30, 2011                    9 am - 5 pm           
  • Saturday, February 25, 2012                 9 am - 5 pm
  • Wednesday, February 29, 2012             9 am - 5 pm
  • Other times can be arranged by calling the treasurer at 695-6244

Tax Assessor

Please check your 2011 Tax Bill to see if your primary residence exemption is correct. If you feel an error has been made, contact Patti Peltier by December 12, 2011.  Property Transfers and Homestead Affidavits must be filed with Patti Peltier at 3333 Brentway, Bay City, MI 48706.  Upon a transfer of property (Deed, Land Contract, etc) the taxable value will be uncapped and rise to the assessed value.  The uncapping will be determined by the date that the Deed or Land Contract was signed, not by when it was recorded.
